The Nationwide Meeting of Senior Officers of the Corps took place at the General Directorate of the Prison and Judicial Guard Corps on September 7, 2026. This significant working meeting created a space for joint discussion between the leadership of the Corps and the directors of individual institutions regarding current issues in the Slovak prison system, the future direction of the ZVJS, and the challenges the Corps faces in its daily operations.
The Nationwide Meeting of Senior Officers represents an important tool for mutual communication, coordination, and unification of procedures across the entire Prison and Judicial Guard Corps. Managing individual institutions within the prison system means making decisions with a direct impact on security, the performance of duty, the working conditions of personnel, as well as the treatment of the accused and convicted. That is precisely why it is essential for the leadership of the Corps and the directors of the institutions to regularly share experiences, identify problems, and seek common solutions.
The significance of the meeting was underscored by the participation of the Minister of Justice of the Slovak Republic, as well as State Secretaries of the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic. Their presence created a space for open communication between the Ministry's leadership and the Prison and Judicial Guard Corps. Direct negotiation allows for better identification of the current needs of the Corps, discussion of the conditions of service, and simultaneously seeking concrete solutions that can contribute to further improving the functioning of the Slovak prison system.
An important part of the meeting, however, was not only the work-related and professional discussion. During this significant gathering, three directors from the ZVJS were also honored. Recognizing their work represents not only an appreciation of their personal commitment and professional approach but also gratitude for the responsibility they have carried for many years in leading individual institutions and departments.
The Prison and Judicial Guard Corps fulfills an irreplaceable role in ensuring the execution of custody and the execution of prison sentences. Its activity is inextricably linked to the protection of society, security, and simultaneously with the creation of conditions for the resocialization of persons in custody and serving sentences. This is also why such meetings have their firm place in the management and further development of the Corps.
