Heavy military equipment, combat scenes, and an atmosphere reminiscent of events from over eighty years ago. During the 15th annual SÜDWIND event, Pohronský Ruskov once again became a place where history came alive before the eyes of visitors. The program also included dynamic demonstrations by officers from the Želiezovce Prison and Judicial Guard Institute.
The SÜDWIND 2026 event took place on August 9, 2026, at the premises of the Military History Museum in Pohronský Ruskov. Its main component was a reconstruction of battles from the Second World War, which brought the events occurring in this region during the war years closer to visitors.
Alongside the military-historical program, officers of the Prison and Judicial Guard Corps from the Želiezovce Prison and Judicial Guard Institute also presented themselves, introducing the public to a part of their work through a series of dynamic demonstrations.
Spectators could observe the officers entering a simulated cell, where procedures used during an intervention in a prison environment were demonstrated. Another demonstration featured the pursuit of an escaping vehicle, during which officers displayed a coordinated approach to handling an extraordinary situation.
The culmination of the ZVJS presentation was an attack on an escort carried out under heightened security measures. The dynamic intervention showed the need for a rapid response, mutual cooperation, and professional handling of a situation that may pose an immediate security risk.
The participation of officers from the Želiezovce institute in the SÜDWIND 2026 event was also an opportunity to introduce the public to the difficulty and specifics of the service activities of the Prison and Judicial Guard Corps. Visitors could thus see that the work of the corps' officers consists not only of ensuring the daily operation of the institutes, but also includes the readiness to professionally respond to extraordinary and crisis situations.
