We can help others in many ways. One of the most valuable is blood donation, which can determine a person's life and health. Therefore, members and employees of the General Directorate of the Corps of Prison and Court Guard Service joined forces again this autumn and took part (albeit in smaller numbers) in voluntary blood donation at the Ružinov Hospital.
The autumn blood donation, which took place on October 2, 2026, once again confirmed that solidarity and the willingness to help are firmly rooted among the members and employees of the ZVJS. Every donor who decided to give their blood contributed to ensuring that there is enough of it for patients who need it for injuries, surgeries, the treatment of serious illnesses, or in other difficult life situations.
This year's autumn donation also had its specific nature. It took place during a period when the season of respiratory diseases and influenza is in full swing. Precisely during this time it is therefore even more important to think not only of the donors themselves, but also of the healthcare workers, who take care of them and ensure the operation of transfusion centers every day. The flu season does not just affect the number of people who can come to donate blood. It also significantly impacts the medical staff of the National Transfusion Service of the SR, who are exposed to increased workload and potential illness during this period. This is also why every donor visit deserves recognition, as it helps maintain necessary blood supplies, as does the work of the healthcare professionals, without whom blood donation would not be possible.
Blood donation is not a one-off affair. Blood supplies need to be replenished regularly, and the need for blood exists throughout the year. The members and employees of the ZVJS thus once again reminded everyone through their example that helping makes sense and that even one good deed can be vital for someone.
