Returning from a prison sentence to everyday life is often challenging, especially when a person is burdened by financial problems. Sentenced prisoners in Dubnica nad Váhom were therefore given the opportunity to find out how to legally resolve their debts.
The prison in Dubnica nad Váhom hosted an inspiring lecture that can significantly facilitate the return to freedom for sentenced prisoners. A lawyer from the Trenčín Centre for Legal Aid came on 12 October 2026 to explain to the prisoners how the debt relief process works and how they can legally resolve their financial problems.
Legal solutions to financial problems
The goal of this meeting was to show sentenced prisoners that there is a way out even from a difficult financial situation. The expert explained in detail what services the Centre for Legal Aid offers, what the conditions are for declaring personal bankruptcy, and what forms of debt relief the legislation allows.
Theory combined with practice
In addition to theory, the lecture also provided practical help. Participants received concrete forms and information leaflets that will help them navigate the entire process and take the necessary next steps.
Preparation for life after release
For the sentenced prisoners, this information was extremely valuable. Many of them perceive their debts as a huge obstacle to integrating into normal life. Thanks to this lecture, they gained not only a better overview of their options but also the motivation to prepare for a more responsible financial life after release from prison sentence execution.
