Perseverance, determination and the desire to overcome oneself – this is what the Small Prison Marathon, which took place on September 26, 2026 at the Prison and Detention Center in Košice-Šaca, was all about. 20 inmates participated in the race, and 13 participants successfully completed the demanding 4,200-meter track and crossed the finish line.
The winner of the race put on an excellent performance and reached the finish line with a lead of nearly one minute. At the same time, he managed to improve on last year's winner's time by one second, raising the bar even higher. He completed the course in 19 minutes and 24 seconds and received well-deserved applause from the audience for his effort.
The Small Prison Marathon, however, was not just about the results. It was primarily a test of willpower, endurance, and the ability to not give up even in difficult moments. Every goal we manage to achieve is proof that boundaries are often just where we set them ourselves. Thus, the Small Prison Marathon once again showed that sport is not only about winning, but also about discipline, self-confidence and the determination to keep going – even when it is not easy.
