We have held the first information meeting for the project "Skills for the Labour Market", the goal of which is to familiarize participants with opportunities for developing professional competencies, acquiring new skills, and preparing for successful employment in the labour market. The project is focused on supporting the education of job seekers, including individuals who face disadvantages in the labour market and belong to harder-to-employ groups. Through educational and retraining activities, the project offers them the opportunity to expand their professional knowledge, gain new work skills, and increase their chances for employment.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the educational agency that would ensure the implementation of vocational courses, as well as representatives of significant partners in the field of education and employment: the State Institute of Vocational Education – dual education coordinator, the Slovak Tradesmen Chamber, and the National Union of Employers.
The main topic of the meeting was practical information regarding possibilities for education, retraining, and acquiring new work skills with regard to the needs of the current labour market. Discussions covered not only the importance of vocational training and subsequent employment, but also other areas that play a significant role in a successful return to work.
Part of the project will include supporting participants through career counseling, the development of work habits, building personal responsibility, and preparation for job interviews. An important part of the preparation is realizing the significance of an active approach to one's own future and the ability to respond to changing labour market demands.
The project also highlights the possibility of using time spent serving a prison sentence in a meaningful and useful way, for example by completing a retraining course or gaining new professional competencies. The acquired knowledge and skills can significantly help with the return to normal life and increase the chances of stable employment after release.
The goal of the "Skills for the Labour Market" project is to develop so-called hard skills – that is, professional knowledge and practical abilities needed for specific job positions, but also soft skills, which include, for example, communication, cooperation skills, problem-solving, a responsible approach to work, or readiness for a work environment.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of lifelong learning as an essential part of personal and professional development. Constantly acquiring new knowledge and the ability to adapt to changes in the labour market represent important prerequisites for successful professional integration and building a stable future.
The implementation of the "Skills for the Labour Market" project represents a significant step toward creating opportunities that support the development of individuals, increase their work potential, and help them prepare for a return to society and professional life.
