The journey from the drafting table to receiving apprenticeship certificates and diplomas represented the culmination of systematic self-improvement and three years of testing the willpower of the graduates of the carpentry vocational program.
Several exceptional moments occurred during the education process that deserve attention. Above all, the carpentry class achieved the best grade point average of all classes in the school – an excellent 1.33. Also remarkable is the story of an incarcerated person who, while serving their sentence, successfully completed secondary vocational education in the painting program, continued on their path of knowledge and new skills, and successfully finished a second vocational program – carpentry. They completed both final exams with honors. The exceptional nature of the results achieved was also confirmed by the words of the chairman of the examination board, who has over thirty years of professional experience and stated after the final exams: "I have never before experienced such excellently prepared students." This recognition belongs not only to the graduates for their perseverance and responsibility but also to the educators who accompanied them on this journey with their expertise, patience, and human approach.
The festive atmosphere was followed, as is tradition, by a social gathering for students and graduates of the carpentry and painting programs over a homemade goulash as an act highlighting their year-long effort and self-improvement.
The continuation of the partnership between the Prison and Judicial Guard Corps Institute in Banská Bystrica-Kráľová and the Joint School based in Kremnička in Banská Bystrica is a confirmation of the shared belief that education is not only a path to gaining knowledge and professional skills but also a path to a more dignified life after serving a sentence. The culmination of this long-term, positively evaluated cooperation was the signing of an agreement on mutual cooperation in providing education for convicts for the next three-year period.
We believe that new opportunities will continue to be born at the drafting table. We thank you for our long-term partnership and look forward to continuing our cooperation in the 2026/2027 school year!
