Within the cooperation of the psychological and consulting activities groups of the Prešov Remand Prison and Correctional Facility and the Sabinov Correctional Facility, four intensive eight-hour blocks were implemented in the environment of the Prešov Remand Prison and Correctional Facility and the Sabinov Correctional Facility for members of the security department and the prison sentence execution department, the main pillar of which was the development of the personal and communication potential of the members.
In a specific prison environment, the ability to know oneself is a critical success factor. Members learned to identify not only their own limits but, above all, their strengths, which they can then use effectively and constructively in the daily performance of service. Work in this environment is mentally demanding; constant pressure and high demands placed on personality stability require regular professional reflection and work with internal resources.
During the training, participants became more deeply acquainted with topics of self-knowledge, effective communication, and conflict dynamics, not only on a theoretical level but especially through practical exercises. The aim of these meetings was to equip members with tools that will help them handle routine and crisis situations related to the service with professional perspective.
Investing in the development of an officer's personality is not only a matter of increasing expertise but, above all, prevention against burnout and professional failure. The ability to understand one's own reactions and communicate in a cultivated manner in tense situations is ultimately a fundamental prerequisite for building respect and maintaining a safe and stable environment. Participant feedback confirmed that this form of support has its significance and place in practice.
