The fact that we have many exceptional and talented people among the prison officers and employees of the Corps of Prison and Court Guard is evidenced by the latest success of our colleague Stano Vejčík from the Leopoldov prison. As an active member of the Slovak 3D Archery Association, he successfully represented Slovakia at the 3D Archery World Championships in Hungary. In strong international competition, he achieved a great success when he won a brilliant bronze medal in the traditional recurve bow category.
Stano's journey into archery began many years ago by pure chance – when he saw a recruitment poster. He became interested in archery and gradually became a fan, not only on a sporting level but also in connection with historical archery at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries.
Today, he passes on his experience as a member of the Vres Traditional Archery Group and also works as a certified archery coach.
3D archery is specific in that shooting at animal-shaped targets takes place in simulated situations, and the archer must constantly pay attention to even the smallest details. For our colleague, this sport is above all a perfect form of mental hygiene, which is very important in demanding work: “I love those great forest tracks, you walk through the forest, notice your surroundings, you can talk to other members of the group, and you can even be of different age groups together.”
At the same time, he adds that if anyone would like to start this sport, there is no need to be afraid of any initial investments in expensive equipment – in their Vres group, they are happy to lend everything necessary to every beginner.
We cordially congratulate our colleague on his achievement and great representation, and we wish him good health, a steady aim, and many further successes.
