A professional lecture on the topic of Financial Literacy took place on the premises of the Remand Prison and Correctional Facility for Prisoners in Košice, and on July 28, 2026, it was intended for incarcerated individuals assigned to relaxed regimes of detention. The lecture was conducted by Lucia Weiss, Partner Expert, under the auspices of Generali Slovenská distribúcia, a.s.
The aim of the event was to increase the financial awareness of the participants and provide them with practical information that they can use when dealing with everyday life situations after their release. The lecture focused mainly on the issues of health, property, employment, and other types of insurance, with the lecturer explaining the significance of individual insurance products and their application in practice.
A significant part of the lecture was devoted to the risks associated with signing contracts with financial institutions and insurance companies. Participants were warned about the importance of thoroughly familiarizing themselves with contractual terms, exclusions from insurance coverage, and provisions that may affect the emergence or assertion of an insurance claim. The lecture also included practical examples from everyday life, which helped participants better understand the possible consequences of hasty financial decisions.
Educational activities focused on the development of financial literacy represent a significant part of the resocialization process. The knowledge gained can help incarcerated individuals make more responsible financial decisions, prevent indebtedness, and better prepare for their return to normal life.
The institution continues to support the implementation of professional lectures and preventive-educational activities that contribute to the development of knowledge, responsibility, and social competencies of incarcerated individuals.
