Following the previous educational activity focused on grocery shopping planning and efficient financial management, a practical part of the program was implemented, during which inmates in the exit section prepared cauldron goulash from jointly selected and purchased ingredients.
The main goal of the activity was to develop the inmates' practical skills in food preparation, promote teamwork, responsibility for assigned tasks, and reinforce the principles of economical food usage. The inmates participated in preparing the ingredients, processing them, following the technological procedure, and continuously organizing the work while cooking the goulash in the cauldron.
Throughout the activity, professional staff provided methodological guidance, highlighting safety principles when handling fire and kitchen tools, as well as the importance of hygiene rules in food preparation. At the same time, the participants discussed options for preparing affordable, nutritious, and tasty meals from commonly available ingredients and how to use the acquired knowledge in the conditions of independent life after release.
All twelve inmates assigned to the exit section actively participated in the implementation of the activity. While working, they demonstrated an appropriate degree of independence, mutual cooperation, and a responsible approach to fulfilling assigned tasks. The joint preparation of the cauldron goulash contributed not only to the development of practical skills in meeting basic life needs but also to strengthening communication skills, teamwork, and an awareness of the importance of planning and economical management of available resources.
The educational activity met its set goal and represented a suitable connection between theoretical knowledge about financial literacy and its practical application in preparing a common meal. The acquired experience can be used by the inmates when securing their own life needs after returning to civilian life.
