The Corps of Prison and Court Guard (hereinafter referred to as the "Corps"), in fulfilling the tasks defined by Act No. 4/2001 Coll. on the Corps of Prison and Court Guard as amended, organizes and carries out activities aimed at the employment of remand prisoners and sentenced prisoners by assigning them to work in secondary economic centres or in the internal operation of remand prisons and prisons (hereinafter referred to as "prison"). The goal is to create job opportunities for remand prisoners and sentenced prisoners, conditions for acquiring or increasing the professional qualifications of sentenced prisoners, and prerequisites for their resocialization.
The issue of employing prisoners constitutes a special category of the Corps' mission, interconnected and related to other activities of the Corps within its competence. The influence and significance of the work of sentenced prisoners in the process of their resocialization is irreplaceable. Regular work activity, which, in addition to its economic benefit for themselves, persons dependent on them, as well as for the state, acts on the personality of the sentenced prisoner, on their relationship to values, and on discovering or perfecting their own abilities. Regular and purposeful work also alleviates the stress of long-term isolation in a closed community. From an economic perspective, an important contribution is the income to the prison budget from the distribution of the sentenced prisoners' work remuneration. From the executed deductions, costs of the prison sentence execution are covered, maintenance is remitted for dependent persons, and other claims of authorized persons are settled. When a sentenced prisoner does not work, part of these expenses is covered from the state budget.
