The facility was established in 1971, when the administration of prisons took over the unused accommodation capacities of arms industry. By extensions, renovations and new constructions have over the next years been created conditions that fit the imprisonment of convicted persons enrolled in the II. correctional group. In 1983 was completed a comprehensive refurbishment of accommodation of convicted. In the following years was refurbished and modified medical facility, built a multipurpose hall serving as a dining room and cinema for the convicted, the new education center and others. During the year 1983 was the purpose of the facility changed to imprisonment of men enrolled to the I. correctional group (minimum guarding level). In the period of 2016 to 2018 was carried out extensive refurbishment, which both increased the accommodation capacity of the facility by 172 seats to the current total capacity of 704 seats and improved the quality of the accommodation conditions of prisoners through creation of premises for cultural and educational work, training, spiritual care and individualization of imprisonment in specialized sections and last but not least, the signal-security technology was radically modernized.
