At the Leopoldov institution, we took advantage of the pleasant weather and the atmosphere of the World Cup to organize an institution-wide mini-football tournament for the inmates. Ten teams of six players each participated. Competitiveness, fair play, and team spirit ultimately produced a winner - Section IX. Players from Section II and Section X D2 also reached the podium. The best team also produced the tournament's top scorer with eight goals.
In addition to victory, a bit of glory, and joy, the inmates also took home diplomas, stationery, and puzzles for their leisure time. A bonus for everyone was that the tournament took place without any injuries. An active approach to leisure time had positive effects on both physical and mental well-being.
Team sports in the conditions of the institution offer a space for building positive relationships between the inmates and also for building cooperation. It is also a non-violent path to adhering to rules and self-discipline.
