In the Leopoldov prison another continuation of the cultural and educational project Debatka took place. Moderator Renáta Ďurišová welcomed the well-known Slovak actor Matúš Kvietik.
During the discussion, he unveiled the behind-the-scenes of his profession and openly admitted that he chose an acting career mainly because he did not know what else to do at the time. He also described to the sentenced prisoners what it was like growing up alongside the legendary actor Štefan Kvietik. Although the public perceived him as a famous personality, to him he was first and foremost a grandfather who cooked him spaghetti with wine. His critical view of contemporary cinema was also interesting. The most powerful part of the Debatka was the sharing of his personal story; the actor shared his past with the audience – a five-year drug addiction. Today, he actively collaborates with Narcotics Anonymous.
The discussion also had a cultural dimension, which was taken care of by the sentenced prisoners themselves. Musical interludes on guitars were prepared by members of the prison's literary club Bodka, who played their own work during the event.
This event once again showed that cultural and educational activities and meetings with inspirational personalities who openly talk about their life falls and subsequent successes make sense in prison facilities and help in the process of successful resocialization of incarcerated persons.
