The 30th annual Commando Knife Run (Bieg o Nóż Komandosa) has brought exceptional success to the Slovak representatives. The only team from Slovakia, consisting of prison officers of the Corps of Prison and Court Guard from the remand prison and prison in Košice, succeeded in challenging conditions among approximately 1,200 competitors and achieved great results.
The Commando Knife Run is a demanding cross-country run in Poland, primarily intended for members of uniformed services. Competitors complete the track in uniform and military boots without additional weight. Mud, sand, and water sections test their physical condition, endurance, and mental resilience. The event is dedicated to the memory of General Włodzimierz Potasiński, the former commander of the Polish Special Forces.
In the strong competition, two representatives of the Košice prison particularly shone. Nstržm. Bc. Lea Štirbanová took 2nd place in the prison service category and 1st place in the women's international competitor category, and ppráp. Ľuboš Hužvej won 1st place in the men's international competitor category. Together, they secured three podium finishes and represented the Slovak prison system with dignity.
The achieved results are proof of high-quality athletic training, determination, and the ability to exceed one's own limits. Sports events of this type also support the discipline, physical readiness, and mental resilience that are also important during the performance of duty.
Lea Štirbanová and Ľuboš Hužvej deserve thanks for successfully representing the Corps of Prison and Court Guard, their workplace, and the Slovak Republic. Their performances are a reason for pride and a motivation for other colleagues. Joyful news comes from Poland, confirming that perseverance and determination bring success even in the international sports arena.
