The guest of the Discussion in the life imprisonment unit at the Leopoldov prison was the passionate traveler and historian Martin Navrátil. The day before the Discussion, he was in Afghanistan, and in the evening after the Discussion, he was flying to Niger. We appreciate all the more that he found time in this 'window' to visit the Discussion in Leopoldov. Like a true traveler, he arrived with a backpack on his shoulders and by train, bringing with him a load of experiences. This time, we divided the meeting into two parts; in the first, we grilled our guest a little with a quiz, then followed a number of curious questions from the sentenced prisoners, and finally, we gave space to Martin, who had prepared an engaging talk about selected countries and expeditions. Thanks to the photos he projected, we found ourselves in Antarctica, Turkmenistan, Togo... Martin has already traveled to 189 countries, prepared and completed unique Slovak first-expeditions – a trek across the African Congo, a winter trek across Chukotka, and the first Slovak trek along the Silk Road from Venice to Beijing. Currently, he has added a new challenge to his professional traveling: co-hosting the TV show On the Right Path.
An hour and a half of debating flew by, the sentenced prisoners wished Martin luck on his upcoming travels, and our guest left with the promise that he would return next year with new experiences. What was the benefit of this travel-themed Discussion? That values are not material, that getting to know other worlds means learning tolerance, that sharing your experiences is valuable.
