In the Polish village of Tryńcza near the town of Przeworsk, the 7th annual international football tournament named after General Antoni Chruściel “Monter”, the legendary commander of the Warsaw Uprising, took place on the first Saturday of August. The tournament was organized on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising with the aim of honoring the memory of this significant figure in Polish history, who came from the nearby village of Gniewczyna Łańcuta.
The event was organized by the IPA Przeworsk region under the patronage of Senator of the Republic of Poland Mieczysław Golba. Five teams competed in the tournament. In addition to four local Polish teams, a team from IPA ZVJS Košice from Slovakia also participated for the first time.
For the IPA ZVJS Košice team, this was their historically first participation in this international event. Throughout the tournament, the Slovak representatives showcased high-quality performances and fighting spirit, which helped them reach the finals.
In the final match, they faced a strong team from the IPA Region SG Przemyśl. After a balanced game, the outcome was decided by a dramatic penalty shootout, in which the players from Przemyśl had more sporting luck. Thus, in their debut appearance, the IPA ZVJS Košice team took an excellent 2nd place, which represents a significant success and great representation of the Prison and Court Guard Service of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak section of the IPA.
Participation in the tournament was also an opportunity to strengthen international relations between members of the International Police Association, exchange experiences, and forge new friendships. Sport once again confirmed that it is an excellent medium for building cooperation between members of security forces from different countries.
